MEETING L. NARAYANA REDDY

Attending a worshop on agrarian crisis has changed my perspective towards farmers and farming practices in India. I always grab the opportunity of getting in conversation with people above the age of 65. Having few best friends of this age makes me feel more happy. Meeting Mr. Reddy (Age: 77 years) from Karnataka made me feel down to earth. A simple man and in his words, "a honourable farmer". Farming is the best occupation and I am proud that we come from the land of villages. Issuses like food security and sustainable development is all about ones attitude. We need to be responsible citizens in our own ways. Great Indians according to me are those who sit on the fence, people like these don't do anything bad to others but they also never do good to others. They play safe and such people make great conversations with regards to development and poverty issues. Relaity must be experienced through the emic perspective ( from people's perspective). It is important that we understand our lifestyle and live a sustainable life. We have given up on our culture of  sustainable living. The ancient scriptures like Vedas and Purans teach us the way of life. Surving beautifully with the environment. Science is not to be blamed, it existed even then and was the cause for existence of civilizations like the Indus. It is just that we have made sense to many scientific discoveries, but have lost the essence of common sense in it. Following the west and counting on decesions made by UN and World Bank seem useless. We are indeed victims of the trickle down model. The so called third world country that supports the first world countries in all their plans. There is no First, Second or Third world. It is just one world and we all humans live with an universal principle of humanity ( Something that needs to be defined in our day to day life). We need to unlearn a lot and live a honourable life like Mr. Reddy. It is all about being wise and being human in all that we do. Thank you Mr. Reddy for the words of wisdom. It is how you connect with people all over the world in true spirit of humanity. I have learnt an universal language, that is body language (emotions, expressions, gesture etc) and thats the reason I  can connect to people anywhere in the world across different cultures. It is all about taking off your shoes and comforting your feet in the shoes of others. It might be hard but it is awesome when you eperience it.
